At the opening, you hear a single melody line that is then repeated over and over throughout the piece.
How well can you follow this melody? About how many times did you hear it?
Describe the music – was it very busy, plain, dissonant, pleasant, etc…

The melody is fairly easy to follow but they piece does start to get very busy as different parts are added. I counted, I believe, 7 times before I quit counting. I enjoyed this song and found is quite pleasant. It is hard to understand, though, how it is a sacred piece.
I could kind of follow the melody, but the whole piece seemed to be very very repetitive. I heard the melody several times. The music is very dark, dissonant, and busy. I like a lot of Bach's music, but I can't say I enjoyed this particular piece.
i. Its pretty easy to follow at first but once the music becomes a little more busy and things get "crazy" it becomes harder to follow.
The music was very busy. There was alot of extra keys plaid and caused the music to be disonant, however even though it was busy and dissonant it was still somewhat soothing and easy to listen to.
This piece was interesting. It was pretty difficult following the melody. I was able to hear it about 3 or 4 or 5 times. I lost track because I could never listen to it through once... It kept "buffering" in the middle of the song. The music was very busy and dissonant. Part of it could be the fact that it was a harpsichord. It was kind of obnoxious in my ear. Not my first choice.
I could hear the melody for the first 15 seconds of the song and then I couldn't follow it that well. The music was very busy.
It seems like this melody is heard throughout the entire song, and when the chords are walking down it sounds like there is to much going on at one time. So at some points in the song it does sound a little busy. Sometimes it is hard to distguishing it.
Elaine,
I think it's considered sacred because Bach said it was - pretty simple explanation, but that's it in a nutshell.
Sis. A
I could tell that it was repeated over and over though the song. I felt like it was kinda of plain and simple as far as the melody.
So this music was sort of easy to follow at first but then it started to get a little crazy, and it became harder to follow. The music was busy and more busy. It was not the prettiest thing that I have ever listened to in my life.
The Melody line that is repeated is repeated a lot... and i lost count I can fallow it but I got distracted by the other notes in the song.
The melody is kind of hard to follow in the sense of where it begins and it ends. There are different parts added throughout, making the melody line harder to hear, and giving the song a busy, almost disonant sound. I liked the song, hated the harpsichord.=)
I can definately hear the same melody repeared throughout the song. there is a lot of other stuff going on with the main melody so i don't think the piece was boring but it was very long.
You can follow melody fairly well, but I lost count of how many times I heard it after about nine. It seems as though the melody is played throughout the piece over and over again.
